Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
RigPicks takes your privacy seriously. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it — in plain English.
What we collect
When you create an account
We collect your email address, a username you choose, and a password. Your password is securely hashed — we never see or store it in readable form.
When you use the build planner
Your build data (selected parts, vehicle configuration, build name) is stored in our database so you can save, share, and return to your builds. If you use the planner without an account, build data is stored in your browser's local storage and linked to an anonymous session ID.
When you sign up for launch updates
If you enter your email on our coming soon page, we store it solely to notify you when RigPicks launches. We do not share your email with third parties, use it for marketing, or send anything beyond launch-related updates. You can request removal at any time by emailing us.
When you visit the site
We store your theme preference (light/dark mode) in your browser's local storage. We do not currently use any analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party cookies.
How we use your data
- To save and display your builds
- To let you share builds with others via link
- To power community features (when launched) like build browsing and upvotes
- To generate anonymized aggregate data ("most popular parts for Tacoma")
- To send you account-related emails (password reset, important updates)
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share individual build data with retailers or manufacturers.
Affiliate links
When you click a retailer link on RigPicks, you're taken to that retailer's website. The retailer may use their own cookies and tracking to attribute the visit to RigPicks for affiliate commission purposes. RigPicks has no control over retailer tracking practices — refer to each retailer's privacy policy for details.
Cookies and local storage
RigPicks uses browser local storage (not cookies) to store your theme preference, anonymous session ID, and unsaved build data. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly save a build.
Our authentication system may set session cookies to keep you logged in. These are functional cookies required for the site to work — we do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Data security
Build data and account information are stored in a secure database with access controls that ensure users can only see and modify their own data. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are securely hashed — we never store or have access to them in readable form.
Your rights
You can view, edit, or delete your build data at any time through the platform. You can delete your account by contacting us. When you delete your account, your personal information is removed. Builds you've shared publicly may persist in anonymized form (parts list only, no personal information) to preserve shared links.
Children's privacy
RigPicks is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as the platform evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the site. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
